About Balasynth

The Balasynth is in many ways a new type of instrument.

It builds on the Wernick Workshop’s extensive work on the Xylosynth and we craft it by hand right here in Leicester, England in that workshop.

So as you would expect, it has a particularly natural, responsive feel.

It has a powerful, versatile brain that enables you to use it as a main instrument or alongside your other essential equipment, but does this within a compact format that, at under 3kg or 6.5lbs you can easily carry to a performance.

The Balasynth is an incredibly sensitive tactile instrument which can be played using mallets, drum sticks (with rubber practice tips to protect the surface) fingers and/or thumbs.

Balasynth features:

Velocity curve and Sensitivity fully adjustable to suit player and their playing techniques.

Can play any western scale with the unique 8 ascending/descending bars (7 increments to an Octave). With our Wedge on/off Pedals (or other third party types) to shift up and down an octave (plugged into two of 3 digital pedal Jack inputs), can play 3 octave music. third Digital Jack input can be used for various options of Sustain with our Wedge on/off Pedals (or other third party types).

The lightning speed of response makes it perfect to play live and with others or to backing tracks.

Timpani and Drum rolling easily achievable on the Balasynth bars using Mallets or Drum Sticks with Rubber Practice Tips. The Patented Balasynth Bar Mounts soften the strike and hence reduce acoustic sound to an acceptable and plausible muted sound which is further reduced with our soft rubber core Mallets.

Can plug most Drum Trigger/Mesh heads into any of the 4 Expression Pedal Inputs.

The 4 Expression Jack inputs can also be used for Expression Pedals to achieve incremental Pitch Bend, variable Note length etc.

Note Length and Sensitivity Knobs for real time adjustment.

Internal GM sounds for convenience with Stereo Jack Headphone and Line Out.

Fully programmable 200 Patches to play instruments or actions such as start/stop sequence loops. Can also send all Midi CC messages.

Patented End Note detection. e.g. Striking the end of the bar to play different pitch or sound using the layering feature.

Dampening/Aftertouch Mode in every Patch.

OLED Display angled for perfect viewing and with adjustable Brightness.

Can be mounted on a cymbal stand using a standard mounting plate (4 thumb screws supplied with instrument) and a universal clamp.

Can be played from horizontal to vertical attitude.

Balasynth Bars come in 3 different wood types: Blond Birch, Toned Birch and Bubinga.

USB Power and USB Midi as well as 5 pin Midi DIN.

Very little Power usage: 10000 milli Amp hour USB Power Bank will power the Balasynth 8 for over 30 hours!
